Academician Zeljko Reiner born in Zagreb 1953, where he finished primary school, classic gymnasium and in 1976 graduated at the Medical Faculty. In 1978 became Master of Science, and 1982 PhD in Zagreb. Residency completed between 1979 and 1983 in internal medicine at the Clinical hospital KB "Sestre milosrdnice", Zagreb and University hospital Eppendorf in Hamburg, Germany. Postgraduate education attended in Oklahoma City, USA 1984-1985. Elected to Dozent (Associate professor) in 1986 and for professor of Medical Faculty in Zagreb elected for the first time in 1988. From 1997 he is professor of internal medicine at the Medical Faculty in Zagreb as permanent position. Awarded with title „Fellow of the Royal Society of Physicians” – FRCP (London) and „Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology” - FESC. From 1986 until 1995 he was a head of the Clinical Department of the Clinic for pathophysiology of the Clinical Center in Zagreb; from 1995 until 2003 he was a chief of Clinic of Internal diseases of the Clinical Center in Zagreb. In period from 2003 acted as head of Institute for metabolic diseases and from 2004 Director of the Clinical Center in Zagreb. Member of the Academy of medical sciences of Croatia from 1990, and its President since 2004. From 1992 to 2006 he was an associate-member of the Croatian Academy of science and art (HAZU), and since 2006 full time member - academician. He is a leader of the Board for atherosclerosis of the HAZU. In period 2000 – 2006 he was a head of the Department for internal medicine of the Medical Faculty in Zagreb. In 2007 elected to honorary citizen of city of Korcula. Published 395 scientific and professional articles. As a visiting professor worked at the several universities in USA and Europe, invited lecturer at the series of European and World congresses, and member of the scientific board of almost all European and World congresses with topic on atherosclerosis during last 25 years and European and World Cardiology congresses, and in Croatia he organized and was president of several congresses. From 1983 until now he was a leader of several scientific-research projects.

Member of editorials of several most respectful international journals („Nutr Metab Cardiovasc Dis”, “Atherosclerosis”,”Europ J Cardiovasc Prevent Rehabil” etc.) and domestic ones ("Lijecnički vjesnik" etc.), also is a reviewer of the most respectful international journals („Lancet”, „J Cellular Biochem”, „J Am Coll Nutr”,”Fundam Clin Pharmacol”, „Ann Nutr Metab” etc.). Was a member of the Managing Board of the European Society on Atherosclerosis, member of the Managing Board of the European association for prevention and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases and its Program Committee for science and guidelines, member of the European Committee for for prevention of cardiovascular disease and Program Committee of the European cardiology Association and Committee for guidelines of the European Cardiology Association, founder and president of the Croatian Association of atherosclerosis, founder of the Croatian Association of hypertension, founder and vice president of the Croatian Association for obesity etc., and was a general secretary of the Croatian Association of physicians. Now is a member of the Main Board of the Croatian Association of physicians.

Awarded with prize “Ladislav Rakovac“ of the Croatian Association of physicians and awarded with several highest medals of state. He was a President of the Commission for medication of the Republic of Croatia in period 1992-2000 (member of the Commission in period 2004-2008), and president of the Commission for the honorary title of primarius (chief physician) (1998-2000). He was a President of the European committee for fight against smo0king (2000-2002). Since 2005 he is a member of the working group for development of the European guidelines for prevention of cardiovascular diseases, and since 2009 as president of the working group for development of the European guidelines for diagnostics and treatment of dislipidemy. From 1995 until 1998 he was a member of the Executive Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) – the highest managing body of this organization. He was a member of the three person’s international committee for awarding one of the most significant prizes in medicine "Leon Bernard Prize".

For the European Commission he was a reviewer of the health projects within FP 6 and FP 7 suggested financed by the European Union. Author of series of chapters in more than twenty books and textbooks published internationally and in Croatia, he was also a leader off several courses in undergraduate and 7 postgraduate studies. Editor of 17 books and manuals (“Pharmacotherapy manual”, „Internal medicine” etc.). In period from 1993 until 1998 he was a deputy of Minister of Health and from 1998 until 2000 Minister of Health of Republic of Croatia. From 2007 he is a president of the National Health Council, and since 2008 member of the Board for health and social welfare of the Republic of Croatia Parliament.



Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Mustafa Sefic born in Banja Luka in 1940. In 1964 he graduated at the University of Zagreb, in 1970 specialized ophthalmology, 1976 defended PhD dissertation with title of the thesis: “Correlation between clinical picture and pathohistological changes in optic nerve head in experimental rabbit glaucoma”. He was full time professor of ophthalmology at Medical Faculty University of Banja Luka and at Medical Faculty University of Sarajevo, and visitingprofessor at Medical Faculty University of Rijeka (Croatia). Also, he was Professor emeritus at Medical Faculty University of Sarajevo.

Professor Mustafa Sefic certified clinical training at the University Eye Clinic of Banja Luka and the University Eye Clinic of Zagreb from 1966-1970 and clinical and scientific work as an ophthalmologist at the University Eye Clinic of Banja Luka 1970-1994 and the University Eye Clinic of Sarajevo University since 1994.

He published more than 100 (123) articles, published in National, European and American journals.

He was supervisor on several MSc and PhD thesis. He made contributions (written or edited) in 19 ophthalmological books, text-books and brochures, interesting for medical students, ophthalmologists, physicians but, also, patients. He is coauthor or leading author in 5 scientific-researching projects, three of them international. Taking part in many National, European and International meetings worldwide since 1969 (San Francisco, Amsterdam, Rome, Berlin, Prague, Dresden, Dubai, Helsinki, London, Thessaloniki, Sophia...), also, as an invited speaker (11 times). Organizer of many national (12) and international congresses (5), various clinical courses all around the Europe, and organizer of them, too. He performed clinical training at many Eye Clinics all around the Europe.

Medical degree “Chief physician” received in 1982. He was the Head of the Department of Ophthalmology, Medical Faculty University of Banja Luka and Medical Faculty University of Sarajevo. He was the Dean of the Medical Faculty University of Banja Luka in period19871991 and Head of the University Eye Clinic in Sarajevo. He was a member of the Editorial board of a few medical and ophthalmological journals; First editor-in-chief of the “SouthEast European Ophthalmological Journal” and the ”Ophthalmological Journal of Bosnia & Herzegovina”. Also, he is founder and the first president of the South-East European Ophthalmological Society (Albania, Cyprus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Turkey, Ukraine with 250 million population and more than 35.000 ophthalmologists), president of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Society of physicians in Banja Luka, president of the Ophthalmological Society in F Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Professor’s Mustafa Sefic scientific interest are: Glaucoma, Cataract-surgery and Clinical contactology. He is Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Sciences (WAAS), member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Croatia (HAMZ), member of the European Glaucoma Society and member of the Foundation Board of the South-East European Ophthalmological Society.



Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Mujanovic Emir was born on 13 April 1964 in Tuzla. Elementary school and high school graduated in Tuzla. Medical Faculty in Tuzla graduated in 1992. Specialist exam in general surgery passed in 1999, and a sub specialist exam in cardiac surgery in 2009. Part of training in cardiac surgery of 6 months completed at the Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, United States in 1997, where he participated in work of the „Center for Less Invasive Cardiac Surgery” and completed the training in the field of coronary artery revascularization without using cardiopulmonary bypass. He is graduated attendee of a seminar on less invasive cardiac surgery at Buffalo, 1997 and 1999, seminars on pacemakers in Philadelphia, United States, 1997 and in Zagreb, Croatia, 2001 and seminar on cardiac surgery technique“Le Clube Mitral” Paris, France in 2003.

Graduate of the program of English language institute of the State of New York at Buffalo, 1996. In 2003 as a fellow of Norwegian Research Council worked for 4 months as a researcher at the Centre for Interventions, as well as visiting cardiac surgeon at the Department of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery of the National Hospital in Oslo, Norway. The degree of master of medical science gained in 2002 at the Medical Faculty in Tuzla by defending the master's thesis entitled „Coronary artery revascularization without cardiopulmonary bypass”.

For senior assistant at the subject „Surgery” at the Medical Faculty in Tuzla elected in 2002, PhD in 2005 at the Medical Faculty in Tuzla by defending doctoral dissertation entitled: "Intraoperative quality control of coronary artery bypass grafts”. To assistant professor at the subject „Surgery” at the Medical Faculty in Tuzla was elected in 2006, to associate professor on the subject „Surgery” at the Medical Faculty in Tuzla was elected in 2011.

He is author and coauthor of 52 scientific and professional papers published in national and international medical journals and proceedings of national and international conferences, from the narrow scientific field of cardiac surgery, 23 of which are indexed in the Medline. He is the author of the chapter „Surgical treatment of congenital heart defects”, and coauthor of the chapter „Surgical treatment of ischemic heart disease” in the university textbook „Cardiology” by: Zumra Kusljugic and associates.

He was a mentor several master's and PhD theses. Participated in the preparation of two projects: Project for improving governance and inter-ethnic cooperation in B&H trough eHealth (eHIGICo B&H), where he was the author of the cardiac part of the course entitled „Surgical treatment of coronary heart disease” and the project „Boscore” (Bosnian studies for coronary risk assessment). Both projects were funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway. He is a member of the European Association od cardiologists, Association of cardiologists and Association of surgeons of the Federation of B&H.



Memphis, United States of America

Professor Kenan Arnautovic was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. He grew up and completed his education in Sarajevo including elementary school, middle school and Medical Faculty. He graduated from the Medical Faculty, University of Sarajevo as the top student of his class. He did his internship in Sarajevo and, in part, Sinsheim-Heidelberg, Germany. He completed his Master’s degree in neurosurgery on the topic of spinal trauma and his PhD on Chiari I malformation in adults.

Professor Arnautovic did two residencies in neurosurgery. His first was done at the Department of Neurosurgery, University Clinical Center Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. The second residency in neurosurgery was done at the Department of Neurosurgery, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, Arkansas. He trained neurosurgery under renowned neurosurgeons Professors Ossama Al-Mefty, Gazi Yasargil, Glenn Pait, Rick Broop and Ali Krisht. Professor Arnautovic is a Board Certified neurosurgeon – diplomat of The American Board of Neurosurgery.

Professor Arnautovic is currently an attending staff neurosurgeon at Semmes-Murphey Clinic since 2003. He serves as an Associate Professor at the Department of Neurosurgery, University of Tennessee in Memphis.He has published extensive in Neurosurgery Peer Review Journals and his articles made three front covers of the most prestigious journal, The Journal of Neurosurgery. His special interests include skull base neurosurgery, complex spine surgery and general neurosurgery.

He is a member of a number of neurosurgical professional societies such as Tennessee Medical Association, Southern Neurosurgical Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, North American Skull Base Society, and North American Spine Society. Professor Arnautovic is a founding member of BosnianHerzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Dzelaludin Junuzovic MD PhD, Associate Professor of the Medical Faculty, University of Sarajevo and Director of Urology Clinic, Clinical Center of Sarajevo University.

Born in Sarajevo 1955 where he finished elementary and secondary education. He graduated at the Medical Faculty in Sarajevo in 1981.

From March 1984 he works as a general practitioner at the Urology Clinic, University Clinical Center in Sarajevo, and then at the same Clinic as a specialist in urology. After passing the specialist exam in 1989 at the same Clinic works as a specialist in urology. Promoted to Chief physician in 1995. He completed his clinical postgraduate studies at the Medical Faculty in Sarajevo, and defended his master thesis in 1999 on the topic: „Obstructive uropathy and their therapeutic treatment during the war in Sarajevo”. Doctoral dissertation on the topic: „Urology approach to diagnosis and therapy of erectile dysfunction”, defended in 2003 at the Faculty of Medicine, Sarajevo University

He passed all the stages of the election in academic titles in subject Surgery and War Surgery, the area of Urology: the assistant in 1996, the senior assistant in 1999, then assistant professor in 2004 and the title of associate professor in 2009.

He is the author of three books, monographs and therapeutic guide, also the author and co-author of more than 50 scientific papers in indexed biomedical journals, of which 17 in the Medline database. He was a mentor for over fifteen undergraduate, master's theses and doctoral dissertations, as well as a member of the Commission for making them. During the war and postwar period he showed great organizational skills, resulting in performance of managerial functions at the Clinic of Urology, as well as in several other health institutions. Since 2003 he is a permanent court expert in the field of urology. He is the Director of Urology Clinic, CCU Sarajevo and president of the Association of Urology of Federation B&H.

For his contribution to the development of urology in Bosnia and Herzegovina he received several awards and honors, which places him in position of a leading urologist in our country and the region.



Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Professor Snjezana Milicevic was born on June 2, 1964 in Sarajevo where she graduated primary school, secondary grammar school and Faculty of Medicine. She finished specialization of Urology in 1996. The Ministry of Health of health of Republic Srpska sent her for further training in the field of urology to the AKH hospital in Vienna in 1997 for six months, at the Department of Urology mentored by professor Michael Marberger, where she gained additional knowledge, especially in the treatment of prostate disease (benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate cancer) and supravesical derivation of urine. The Ministry of Health has also sent her to Austria in 1997, where she took part in Training program on Project Implementation in the time interval of several weeks. She has been in Germany, Regional Hospital, and Detmold for several months and after that in Munich, Stadtische Kliniken Munchen Harlaching where she gained further knowledge too.

Professor Milicevic finished Postgraduate Study in 2000 with final thesis concerning the surgical treatment of BPH and Doctoral Studies in 2004 with doctoral thesis “Analysis of the effectiveness of surgical treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia with methods of transurethral resection of the prostate and open prostatectomy”.

She was coordinator of an open, prospective, multicentric national study entitled “The impact of tamsulosin on the detrusor in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia” of company Yamanouchi. She was proposing and the holder of the approved projects conducted by Health Insurance Fund, which were related to early detection of testicular cancer and education of the population and the medical staff of Donor Network RS-B&H. She was an active participant in numerous European and national conferences, symposiums, congresses presenting the work of national Urology. Also, she was president of several Conferences and other national scientific meetings in the field of urology and invited speaker several times at Congress of Association of Urologists of Serbia and Montenegro and International Congress of Urology which was held in Shanghai, China.

Now, she works at the Clinic of Urology, Clinical Center University of Banja Luka, where she is head of Department, Deputy Chief and then Head of the Clinic. She is a president of the Association of Urologists at the state level since 2006 and a national coordinator of the Donor Network of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She is a member of European Association of Urology (EAU), Chamber of Medical Doctors of Serbia, Society of Serbian Medical Doctors and Donor Network of B&H.

She has also worked at Faculty of Medicine, University of Banja Luka since 1998 as an assistant, assistant professor and associate professor since 2010. She is a reviewer in the International Journal of Urology and Medical Archives. She has published numerous professional and scientific papers, also published monograph “Benign prostatic hyperplasia” and four books.

ZLATKO HRGOVIC, a doctor, specialist in gynecology and obstetrics, university professor. Born in Lipovo Brdo near Bjelovar 1950. He graduated high school in Bjelovar and the Medical Faculty in Zagreb 1974. Residency in obstetrics and gynecology completed at the Medical School of Hannover 1980. Doctoral dissertation defended in the field of gynecology at the Medical Faculty, University of Zagreb in 1985. Then a doctorate at the Medical School of Hannover 1986. He is a member of the German Association of sexologists. He works as a university professor at the School of Medicine "Johhan W. Goethe" in Frankfurt. He is also a university professor at the Faculty of Medicine "Josip Juraj Strossmayer" in Osijek, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sarajevo. The responsible investigator and participant in several projects and active participant in several national and international scientific and professional conferences.

He has published over one hundred professional and scientific papers in the field of gynecology, obstetrics, surgery and urology. Many of his published articles were cited in the world‐renowned medical journals. He is editor and publisher of four books, co‐author of an American textbook, as well. Mentor and member of numerous commissions for a doctoral dissertation, sub‐specialist and specialist exams.

He is a regular member of the Croatian gynecological society, then, a member of the German Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and a member of the German Society of urologists, a member of the German Society of endocrinologists, a member of the German Association of sexologist, a member of the German Urological Society, a member of the German Association of surgeons, a member of the German Society for Reproductive Medicine, Member of the Presidium of the German Society for incontinence. For his scientific and professional work has received several medals, plaques and other awards.

Professor Zlatko Hrgovic is renowned expert in obstetrics and gynecology. It dealt mainly with diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. His work has contributed to the treatment of breast cancer. Another important area of professional and scientific work of professor Zlatko Hrgovic and the treatment of urinary incontinence in women, and in this area he made a significant contribution to the improvement of surgical treatment of urinary incontinence in women. Third important area of scientific and academic works of Professor Zlatko Hrgović is the diagnosis and treatment of sterile marriages where in the treatment of both couples. Gathered and drew on a number of co‐operation of eminent specialist’s gynecologist from home and abroad, resulting in a large number of conferences, symposia and research papers.

It can be said that Professor Zlatko Hrgović one of the leading experts in the field of gynecology and obstetrics. According to the University of Cambridge has been included among the one hundred best gynecologists in the World for 2009. He published a large number of professional and scientific papers that have significantly influenced the development of science. Has extensive lecturing experience as a professor of Medical faculties of Hannover, Frankfurt, Sarajevo and Osijek. It is essential to emphasize his selflessly providing major assistance to Sarajevo in the difficult conditions of war. Professor Zlatko Hrgović is a member of many international organizations in advancing the world of medicine. In addition, there is a link between our domestic and foreign experts in the areas of the world dealt with

As the principal author and co-author, Dr. Zvizdić published more than 112 original and review articles in many journals. He is also a member of the Society of Microbiology Bosnia and Herzegovina He participated in many conferences around the world (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Argentina, Turkey, Monte-Negro, Switzerland, etc). His main field is Virology. He issued three university books in General Medical Virology, Medical Virology and Virology and a lot of practicums for students of many faculties in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in other countries. He is very common with modern laboratory techniques in Virology diagnostics .Also he participated as a project leader and a member from the six projects.

Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Enver Zerem born 1953 in Glodnica near Jablanica. Graduated primary school in Ostrožac and high school in Konjic. Graduated at the Medical Faculty in 1977, and completed specialization in internal medicine in 1984 in Belgrade. Completed Master's degree in 1991 and a Ph.D. in 1994tat the University of Tuzla. From 1980 he was working on an Internal Clinic of the University Clinical Center in Tuzla. Associate professor of internal medicine at the Medical Faculty in Tuzla. The current director of scientific research and education at the University Clinical Center in Tuzla. Foremost expert and the most important scientist in B&H in the field of application of the intervention ultrasound in medicine. He has written chapters in 5 books on the subject of the intervention ultrasound gastroenterology.

He has published over 100 scientific and professional papers mainly in the field of intervention ultrasound and gastroenterology. In the journals which are indexed in Current Contents database he published as the author 22 articles and 9 as co‐author. The articles which are cited in the Medline database count 52 articles. He is a reviewer in several journals covered by Current Contents databases, and from the journal European Radiology he received a special award for 2009 and 2010.
